This is a very normal question that most students ask. And the answer is very simple; you don’t need to be great or even good at computers to be able to excel in your English exams. If you are looking to achieve only band 5, 6, or 7 your typing skills don’t really matter.
As long you can punch the letters. In my own research, I have found that people who have missed Essays still got a score of band 7 (But it’s always good if you know how to type. However, if you are planning to get more than band 8 which is 79 in PTE-A you might want to practice your typing as you have only 20 min to write a 200-300 word essay.
Sometimes you get 2 essays in your exams. It’s really a good idea to learn typing not only for your exam but also for your day-to-day life as later you might be getting into some office work which requires you to write emails, send information to your clients and if you are able to type faster you will accomplish and get more things done.
That is why you should be motivated to learn typing. The best way to practice your typing skills is to put a timer for 20 minutes and write from any newspaper or book every day if your typing is not really good or once every 2 days until you get closer to your exam day.
