To put it in simple words Pearson Test Of English Academic (PTE-A) is a computer-based test that goes for approximately 2 hours. There are different centres around the world. However, while choosing which place to give exams, you may try to check the location where there is less noise because some Test taking places could be very close to the traffic and noise.
Hence, it creates an environment for the students where they can easily loose their concentration, that was just an extra side Tips. PTE Academic measures your English ability by testing your level of English through tasks, which reflect real-life situations. It is just like IELTS test there are 4 sections Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking but it is faster and everything is done in computer, which now IELTS have also successfully copied the same module or perhaps they may have been inspired by the test format. The exam is approximately 2 hours long and is split into timed parts. When the time is up on the section, the test will move on automatically but most of the time you have to click next. So once you have finished don’t just get stuck over there just click next to go to a different question.
Compared to back in the days it fairly a short exam so all it needs is your focused and undivided attention for 2 hours approximately. After that you can do whatever you like go to the party, drink all night or just anxiously wait for your results. By the way the results are super fast sometimes you give exam in the morning by evening you have your results but do allow up to 5 days technically. Sidenote: praying to your favorite god or listening to your favorite music can lower your exam phobia.
There are 20 different types of task. There are some task which will give you points for both reading and speaking, writing and reading, listening and writing etc. There is an optional break of 10 min before the final section of the exam, which is listening. While giving the exam the most important thing is to relax, breathe easy and don’t rush.
There is no paper version of your scores – everything is available online, (may be they are taking the concept of being carbon neutral seriously) where you can send your results to as many institutions (universities, government agencies, etc.) as you choose. The test is internationally recognized and is accepted for admissions for thousands of programs. PTE Academic acceptance includes top UK universities, top US universities and government organizations.
